Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion rejuvenates and revitalizes your skin in just one afternoon!  This treatment has been very popular in Europe for years.  Microdermabrasion uses a fine jet of crystals to gently and painlessly exfoliate your skin while vacuum suction removes the crystals along with the dead skin cells. You're left with newer, tighter, smoother, softer skin and more even skin texture.

As we grow older our skin loses its ability to naturally exfoliate itself.  This means that unless we actively do something to remove the surface layer of dead skin cells, our fresh young-looking skin remains hidden below the layer of dead skin cells.  Most importantly, skin care products are much less effective if they are only getting absorbed by the dead skin cells as opposed to the actual living skin that the products are meant to nourish.

In addition to surface exfoliation, Microdermabrasion promotes the production of new cells in the basal (deepest) layer of the dermis; it cleans the pores, and stimulates collagen networking that can further improve skin texture.

Microdermabrasion can be successfully used on light or dark skin to treat the face, neck, chest, arms, elbows, knees and hands. Microdermabrasion is generally indicated for:

  • Fine Lines and Wrinkles
  • Age Spots, Sun Damage and Hyperpigmentation
  • Acne Scars, Chickenpox Scars and Scratch Marks
  • Congested Skin, Enlarged Pores and Blemishes
  • Dull Skin

This simple, quick and convenient procedure has become very popular with patients showing the early signs of aging, sun exposure and other facial imperfections. The procedure typically lasts half an hour and is totally painless.

Microdermabrasion has recently been praised for helping to reduce the risk of skin cancer by sloughing off the dangerous cells which eventually lead to cancer.

Not to be confused with microdermabrasion offered by day spas, Sutera offers medical-grade microdermabrasion which produces much more lasting and dramatic results!
